To our great surprise Bob and I were called into the stake president's office June 11th and asked if Bob would accept the call to be the bishop of our ward. He was overcome by this request and greatly humbled, to say the least.
I could see a change occurring in him the previous two weeks before they called us in for the interview. I know the Lord was preparing him for this position. Bob also knew something was coming up as he was tried and tested several times in the previous few weeks. As he was sustained, and again when he was ordained, I witnessed a spiritual change come over him. I know the Lord is blessing him and will continue to bless him as he serves the ward.
We were blessed the 13th of June to have Brian and Denise come over from Louisiana to be sealed in the Portland temple. Those that attended were Rich, Allisha, Josh, Cheryl, Bob, Denise, Grandparents Marlatt and Lybbert, Aunt DeAnna, Uncle Steve and Aunt Ellen. We had a great time visiting afterwards, taking pictures and enjoying lunch together. Steve & Ellen, and Harold & Lois Marlatt flew back to Couer d'Alene Idaho and the rest came home to our house. Saturday morning grandpa & ma Lybbert (Enoch and Donna) left to Clifford's home and Uncle Ben and Megan came to meet Aunt DeAnna on their way to Edmonton, Canada. They bedded Megan's horse Vegas in the barn for Saturday and Noah enjoyed his first horse ride. He was thrilled and totally enthralled with the horse. I've never heard him laugh so hard!
We visited with Brian and Denise on Saturday and then Brian had to fly out on Sunday morning to go back to work, but Denise was able to stay until Tuesday. We had a great weekend and were so please to spend the time with everyone.
Then the adventures began as the next weekend Bob was ordained the bishop and we surprised him with another visit from his parents. They were able to stay through Tuesday and Bob was indeed overjoyed to have his parents stay for those few days.
