No Stopping Chris Now...More Home Repairs

First off as soon as Carey was settled into her apartment, Chris went right to work building a whiteboard/TV screen for the family room so that it would be ready for Sunday's Bishop's Youth Fireside at our house. He did an awesome job and it works great! Thanks Chris, you're a genius.
Since Chris has been home from his mission, he and Rich have been working on figuring out what repairs the house needs, including his bedroom. Now that they have a plan in place and have the okay to get started, the work begins.

The bedroom repairs started with the ripping out of the carpeting and the closet walls.
Due to some plumbing leaks, his walls got some mold in them. Now the real work begins and work he did as he furiously worked hard all day getting the closet re-framed before he finished for the day.

With a few calls now and then to Dad (who is in New Mexico this week) to keep him updated on the details and progress of the project; or expenses I should say; and several trips to Home Depot...things kept moving along. the framing being built....

....and leveled....and adjusted several times...and finally put into place...TADA!

The framing's all done and now it's time to play..After a quick cleanup he is off to Rich and Allisha's for the evening for a well deserved rest and relaxation. Tomorrow will be another day of work and probably more discoveries... let's hope not...but with this house you can never tell.

No Grass Growing Under Chris's Feet

The week after Chris got home Bob sent Chris to Payson Arizona to help a cousin, Carey Stanton, move to Olympia. He left on Sunday evening and Monday morning helped her load the moving van and then he drove it almost non-stop for 36 hours home. They arrived in Olympia Wednesday afternoon and he was happy long trip was finally over.

Thursday we helped Carey get her apartment and Friday was move-in day. With the awesome help of our ward missionaries and soon to-be missionaries, the unloading began and by the time it was done, the Relief Society came and helped Carey with the undonting task of unpacking boxes. They left her with a peace of mind, that earlier seemed so overwhelming and also some food and dinnerware. What a wonderful ward we have.

Elder Marlatt is home!

Chris arrived home on March 6th after serving two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his first mission in the Birmingham, England Mission for six months before having to come home for knee surgery. He didn't let that stop him after 10 weeks of recovery he got a new call to serve in the Missouri Independence Mission and was there for 18 months. He had a great time and served well.

We are glad to have him home and hear of all his experiences. Pictures and more to come soon.

Rich & Allisha's Awesome New Baby Boy

After long anticipation and worry we received the phone call that Skyler James Marlatt was finally here. He had a traumatic entry into this world but he has won the hearts of everyone that sets eyes on him. He has beautiful blue eyes like both his mom and dad, and a perfect little face that is so smooth and handsome. He has long fingers and toes, and is so-o-o cuddly.

He is strong and loves to showoff his muscles, he also holds his head up really good and loves to look around and stare into your eyes.

He is also very strong willed and loves to keep his mom up at night. I'm sure Allisha will love it when he finally decides that night time is for sleeping.

Allisha's sister AJ was able to come and spend two weeks helping Allisha. She is such a wonderful person and we enjoyed the times we have been able to get to know her.

Congratulations Rich and Allisha, you have a very special little guy!
